Gambling is a game of risking something of value in the hope of achieving something even greater in value (Mayo Clinic, 2022). There is nothing wrong with gambling but it becomes a problem when it is “an uncontrollable urge or habit of doing gambling even if it is leading to their downfall” (Mayo Clinic, 2022). And that’s what is called gambling addiction. Gambling addiction can cause low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, and depression (Mental Health Foundation, 2021). In this episode, we came up with a story of an international student, Mohit, who came to Canada with big ambitions but had to struggle with gambling addiction. Additionally, there is also a special guest invited to this podcast who is a part-time professional poker player, Guneet, to give a piece of professional advice in the field of gambling. If you want to know everything about gambling addiction and to know the story of Mohit and questions such as, “Did he manage to get out of the gambling trap? If he did then how did he manage to do it? And what is his situation now?”, then listen to our new podcast to learn about Mohit’s story and discover practical insights on how to avoid the traps of gambling addiction. This eye-opening episode is one you would not want to miss!
